Cavalry (from the French word cavalerie, itself derived from “cheval” meaning “horse”) are soldiers who fight mounted on horseback.

Historically, the caballería was a unit of land measurement in the Spanish viceroyalties in the Americas during the times of the Spanish Empire in the 16th through 19th centuries Spanish West Indies. The unit was widely used in Puerto Rico, where it was equivalent to 78.58 hectares (194.2 acres).

La caballería fue una medida de superficie utilizada en el Imperio Español entre los siglos XV y XVIII con unas medidas de 100 por 200 pies (30 × 61 m aproximadamente, o sea unos 1858 m²).

No obstante esta unidad de medida ya existía en España desde el siglo XII y equivalía a 3863 m².
