Walk down any street in the Philippines, or in any city, town or village, and you’ll certainly spot a sari-sari.
The tiny retail outlets sell basic items such as canned goods, rice, noodles, coffee, shampoo and toothpaste. They’re typically situated in front of a home, and almost always tended by a family member who lives there. There are an estimated one million of these stores throughout the Philippines — one for every hundred people.
