Pakiusap in Filipino culture is more than just a simple request. It’s an appeal for consideration. This could be seen as having good effects and bad effects.
Those who don’t like the pakiusap mentality say that it condones asking for an exception to the rules. On the other hand, it can be seen as a trait of Filipino or Asian culture to consider the person and the circumstances in order to have a more thoughtful understanding of the situation rather than being hard-headed and hard-hearted in sticking to the rules.
