In the Philippines, the first two days of November are All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day, respectively. These are known as the Undas season, when Filipinos go back to their hometowns to visit and clean the graves of their departed family members.
Due to Western influence regarding Halloween, the date of October 31 is now more likely to be considered a non-working holiday devoted to visiting one’s departed relatives than is November 2, much to the chagrin of Catholic church officials.
