Filipino children visit their older relatives during Christmas to ask for aginaldo. Godfathers and godmothers are especially prepared to hand out aginaldo.

There is a famous Tagalog Christmas song with the title Sa Maybahay ang Aming Bati in which children sing that the purpose of their visit is to ask for aginaldo.
