Less commonly known as baduya.

Often used in making maruyang saging is the saba variety commonly employed in cooking.

RECIPE FOR MARUYANG SAGING

Mix the following to make the batter:

1 cup flour, sifted
1 egg, beaten
1 tsp baking powder
2 tbsp sugar
4 tbsp milk
1/3 cup water
pinch of salt


DIRECTIONS:

» Peel ripe bananas and slice each lengthwise into four pieces.
» Dip in the batter, then roll lightly in some flour.
» Deep fry in cooking oil.
» Serve with a dusting of brown sugar.


A version of maruya in the Bicol region is called sinapot.
