KULPIT

This is not a word from the Tagalog language.

It’s a word from the Hanunó’o language, which is spoken by Mangyans in the province of Mindoro in the Philippines.

Kulpit is the name of a cicada found in the forest. Cicadas are believed to answer a knock or tap on a piece of wood.

The Tagalog word for “cicada” is kuliglig.
