WAFER

The English word can be transliterated into Tagalog as weyper. Most Filipinos will, however, say wah-per.

wáfer

A wafer is a small, thin, crisp biscuit. Sweet vanilla-flavored wafers are popular in the Philippines.

In other parts of the English-speaking world, the small thin disk of unleavened bread used during Catholic mass is also called a wafer. Filipinos call in óstiyá.

In the field of electronics, a wafer is a thin slice of semiconductor used for the fabrication of integrated circuits and, in photovoltaics, to manufacture solar cells.
