Manny Pacquiao is known for using a “pompyang” punch against Joshua Clottey in a boxing match in 2010. He used his gloved fists to hit both sides of Clottey’s head as though his hands were a pair of cymbals being played.
Pompiang is also slang for a lesbian. It may have come from a Hokkien Chinese gambling term that referred to the winning pair of numbers represented by the same numeral.
