As a type of wood, pangnan has straight grain and coarse texture and is heavier than hickory.
Used for picker sticks.
Pangnan is widely distributed in forests of medium altitude.
Parenchyma bands are more distinct and tyloses more abundant or conspicuous in pangnan than in manaring.
