PALIMPIN

In the cultural rituals of the Mayawyaw, a pagan group of the Ifugao tribe in northern Luzon, palimpin is another word for ipad, which is a solemn celebration of a married couple that lasts several days.


In Tagalog:

Napipisang timbon sa tabi.
Collected heap along the side.

Mapalimpin: mapataboy o mapadasig at maipon sa tabi.

Napalimpin (naitaboy sa isang makipot na lunan) ang kalaban sa Atimonan.


In the Vocabulario de la lengua tagala published in the year 1860, the word palimpin is defined in Spanish as “Atravesado por señal en el camino.”

There are also these two entries, the first one identified as a synonym for palimpin:

payimpin: enrejadillo largo en los corrales que se hacen en la mar para coger el pescado (grills/latticework placed in the ocean for catching fish)

payimpin: atajo al rededor de la tierra para que no salga lo que esta en el
