Maute is the name of an Islamist group based in the southern part of the Philippines, on the large island of Mindanao. It was reportedly founded in the year 2013.
An attack by the Maute group in Marawi City in 2017 prompted President Rodrigo Duterte to declare martial law across the entire island of Mindanao.
Ang Pangkat ng Maute ay isang radikal at Islamistang pangkat na binubuo ng mga dating gerilya ng Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) at ilang banyagang mandirigma na pinamumunuan ni Abdullah Maute, ang sinasabing tagapagtatag ng isang Dawlah Islamiya, o Islamikong estado na nakabase sa Lanao del Sur.
