MARTIN LOON

One of the attorneys that have been representing Patricia Cruz Bautista in the media with regards to her disclosure of possible graft by her husband COMELEC Chair Andy Bautista is the young-faced UP Law alumnus Martin Loon.

Martin Loon is the stepson of Ariel Querubin, a retired Marine colonel of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

After graduating the University of the Philippines College of Law, Loon reportedly worked for Zobel Inc. He currently is with Aquende Yebra Aniag Loon & Associates, as well as Cyberbay Corporation.

The young lawyer has been a a lecturer at Ateneo de Manila University since 2015 and at Manuel L. Quezon University College of Law since last year. He worked as a Senior Aide and Consultant in the Office of the Senate Minority Leader, Republic of the Philippines, from July 2010 to February 2014.

Though he has acknowledged knowing former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., he has denied that a relative of the ex-lawmaker had arranged his client’s meeting with President Rodrigo Duterte in Malacañang last July.

“The Marcoses did not broker any deal, did not broker any meeting with the President. It wasn’t them at all,” he told ANC.

EDUCATION BACKGROUND

Martin Loon obtained a Master of Laws (LLM) in National Seurity Law from the Georgetown University Law Center in 2014. He was at the University of Philippines between 2008 and 2013, where he was a member of the Sigma Rho Fraternity, Order of the Purple Feather and the University Student Council. His BA in Political Science is from Ateneo De Manila University (2004-2008). He studied at least one year at Karabar High School in New South Wales, Australia.
