MAGSUOB

root word: suób

magsuob
to fumigate

magsuob
inhale steam

The word suób wasn’t commonly used in Tagalog conversation, but it became popular in the year 2021 as a translation for “steam therapy” or “steam inhalation” for treating or preventing COVID.

In the United States, Americans may use a special machine called a nebulizer that changes a saline or salt solution to a fine mist to inhale. Before the COVID era, this was used to help cough up mucus from the lungs.

Even without a machine, one may perform nasal irrigation with a plastic squirt bottle filled with sterilized water and a salt. This is for rinsing bacteria and viruses out of the sinuses.

Some people use isopropyl alcohol or even hydrogen peroxide instead of salt.
