LANGKAD

Langkad was a customary demand which the groom is required to pay, usually in the amount of forty pesos.

The langkad was a sort of fine for passing over the bride’s older sister. It was demanded when of several sisters the youngest was picked to be married first.

langkad — a sum of money given to the bride’s parents (in case the bride was getting ahead of an older sister)

langkad – a special sum of money oto be given to the girl’s parents as a sort of fine for having bypassed the elder sister of the bride, if she had any
