Filipino gay slang for “caught” or “busted”
Etymology: In the 1980s, gay men looking for casual sex in the darkness would suddenly shout “Julie, Julie Yap Daza!” when a policeman came within sight.
Julie Yap Daza is the name of a famous newspaper editor and television talk-show host.
“Julie” has become the gay slang for the standard Tagalog word “huli” (meaning: “to get caught”).

Gay lingo has a penchant for making short words longer. For example, “get” becomes getsing. The English word “men” has become menchu, while “cheap” became chipangga.
