Insular relates to or from an island.

An insular person is ignorant of or uninterested in cultures, ideas, or peoples outside one’s own experience.

During the Spanish colonial period, those of Spanish blood who were born in the Philippines were called insulares.

insulár: walang pakialam sa ibang kultura, tao, at iba pa na labas sa kaniyang karanasan; makitid ang isip

insuláres: noong panahon ng Espanyol, mga mamamayang may dugong Español ngunit isinilang sa Pilipinas
