An inglisero is an English speaker.
This can have a positive or negative connotation depending on the context in which it is used.
A number of Filipinos opt to speak English rather than a native Philippine language. Although this choice may be considered somewhat arrogant, oftentimes it is unavoidable either because terms and concepts in the topic being discussed (technical subjects) aren’t available in the vernacular or because the speaker is of a different region of the Philippines and is currently speaking among those where another Philippine language is dominant. For example, educated Cebuanos may prefer to speak English rather than Tagalog because they are more fluent in the former than the latter.
For the most part, however, the word Inglisero is used either as mild contempt or in a humorous way to chide someone who speaks English.
Uy, English nang English. Inglisero talaga.
The female equivalent is Inglisera.
