Upon completion, this page will provide information on Filipino-American writers such as:

Bienvenido Santos (1911-1996), who was born in Manila, but was active in the United States. He is most famous for Scent of Apples (1979). He won the prestigious Palanca Awards of Philippine literature in 1956, 1961 and 1965.


Jessica Hagedorn, who was born in Manila in 1949. Two of her famous novels are Dream Jungle (2003) and Dogeaters (1990).

Cecilia Manguerra Brainard, who was born in Cebu. Her novel When the Rainbow Goddess Wept is internationally acclaimed.

Linda Ty-Casper, who was born in Malabon in 1931. Her most famous novella is Awaiting Trespass (1985).

Tess Uriza Holthe, who was born and raised in San Francisco. Her novel When the Elephants Dance is a national bestseller.
