In December 2022, Elaine Ong Sotto’s name was exposed as part of the Twitter scandal in which the story of Hunter Biden’s laptop was suppressed by the social-media platform just before the 2020 presidential election in the United States.
Ong Sotto deleted her Twitter account after journalist Matt Taibbi revealed that she told Twitter Public Policy executive Caroline Strom in an email that White House press secretary Kaleigh McEnany was locked out of her personal account for violating Twitter’s Hacked Materials policy. McEnany was sharing a link to a New York Post story about Hunter Biden’s laptop.
Manila-based Elaine Ong Sotto is of Filipino ethnicity, a native Tagalog speaker, and a citizen of the Philippines. In 2021 at Crimson Resort in Boracay, after a long-distance relationship, a wedding was held between Elaine and Marvin Ong Sotto, a Chinese-Filipino pharmacist based in Perth, West Australia, who has family ties to Northern Samar, Philippines. It is not known if Elaine Ong Sotto has since acquired Australian citizenship.

Just FYI, TagalogLang’s Twitter account with over 20,000 followers, which had been active since 2008 and was innocuously posting on linguistics-related topics, was maliciously and arbitrarily suspended without basis by Twitter’s “woke” Philippines-based team in February 2021.
Nothing would make us happier than to have these idiots be criminally charged or at least sued in civil court for all the reckless damage they have done.
