Eddie Romero (July 7, 1924 – May 28, 2013) was an acclaimed Filipino movie director, film producer and screenwriter. He was named National Artist of the Philippines in 2003.
His most famous Tagalog movie is “Ganito Kami Noon…Paano Kayo Ngayon?” (1976). The title means “We were like this before, How are you all now?” It is set at the turn of the century during the revolution against Spain and later the United States.
He is also famous for directing the 13-part series of “Noli Me Tangere,” an adaptation of the novel of Filipino national hero Jose Rizal.
