DAMPALIT

Dampalit

An edible herb whose scientific name is Sesuvium portulacastrum or Borrichia arborescens.


Dampalit is usually prepared as part of a fresh salad or as achara (see recipe below).

There is a river and a group of waterfalls called Dampalit in Los Baños in the province of Laguna.


Recipe for Atsarang Dampalit

Himayin ang mga dahong dampalit.

Huwag isama ang mga bulaklak.

Pakuluin sa kaunting tubig at kung lanta na ay hanguin.

Lagyan ng kaunting matamis na suka at paibabawan ng mga hiniwang bawang, sibuyas at kamatis.
