Corazon Cojuangco Aquino (1933 – 2009)
President of the Philippines from 1986 to 1992. Ninoy Aquino’s widow fondly known as Cory to Filipinos.
With Salvador Laurel as running mate, she was the symbol that headed the opposition that overthrew the government of Ferdinand Marcos, who then went into exile after the People’s Power revolution of 1986. She first established a revolutionary government under the Freedom Constitution, later replaced by the Constitution of 1987, which served as the basis for reestablishing democracy in the Philippines.

Associated with the color yellow and the Laban sign (formed by extending the index finger and thumb). “Tita Cory” means “Auntie Cory,” as she is familarly referred to.
Daughter Kris Aquino works as an actress and talk-show host in the Philippines. She is remembered for admitting that she contracted an STD (sexually transmitted disease), becoming the first presidential child to publicly do so.
