WEBSITE

Most Filipinos simply use the English word “website” — websayt, if transliterated into Tagalog.

There is a neologism (newly coined term) made by those who insist that there be a “native” Tagalog translation for every English word.

pook-sapot
website

It is sometimes misspelled without a hyphen, like pooksapot.

Ano ang website ng kumpanya mo?
What’s your company’s website?
(informally asking a friend)

Anong website ng kumpanya ninyo?
What’s your company’s website?
(second-person plural)

May website ba kayo?
Do you guys have a website?

May website po ba kayo?
Do you have a website?
(polite form)

Wala ba kayong website?
Don’t you guys have a website?

It’s been estimated that in the Philippines, there are more than 52 million people who access the Internet, and about 97 percent of them are on Facebook.
