Usage of “naka-” in Tagalog

In one usage, the prefix naka- expresses the idea of wearing the article of clothing, accessory, or color that is designated by the noun that naka- attaches to.

naka + any type of clothing

nakapantalon = wearing pants
naka-jeans = wearing jeans
nakabestida = wearing a dress
naka-kamiseta = wearing a shirt

naka + any type of accessories

nakasalamin = wearing glasses
nakakuwintas = wearing a necklace
nakahikaw = wearing earrings
nakasumbrero = wearing a hat

naka + any color

nakaputi = wearing white
nakadilaw = wearing yellow
naka-itim = wearing black
