Ang pangalan ng proyektong TokHang ay hango sa salitang Cebuano na Toktok-Hangyo na ang ibig sabihin ay katok at pakiusap.

The name of the Philipppines’ Oplan Tokhang is derived from the Cebuano “Toktok-Hangyo” meaning “knock and plead (make a polite request to surrender or stop using drugs).”

Ito ang tawag sa kampanya ng Philippine National Police kontra droga.
This is what the PNP’s anti-drug campaign is called.

Note: Cebuano is a language very distinct from Tagalog, which forms the basis for the Filipino national language; however, the current president‘s first language is Cebuano and also for years, there has been a concerted effort by the National Language Commision to incorporate more Cebuano words into Filipino.

It is no coincidence that Oplan Tokhang was implemented in 2016 when President Duterte came into office.

As of September, it is estimated that under Tokhang, more than 700,000 drug users and peddlers have surrendered to the police. Tokhang has really put the fear into users and sellers of illegal drugs.
