TAMARAW

The tamaraw is a wild buffalo found on the island of Mindoro.

Scientific name: Bubalus mindorensis
English name: Mindoro Dwarf Buffalo

The tamaraw is an endangered species of buffalo endemic to the Philippines. It is the largest native terrestrial mammal in the country. Note that it is not a subspecies of the local carabao or the common water buffalo.

In the 1970s Toyota, through the defunct Delta Motors, built an AUV (Asian Utility Vehicle) it named the Tamaraw. The vehicle was designed for rugged terrain  and was very popular in the Philippines. There was even a basketball team called the Toyota Tamaraws.
