Discussing Sex in Tagalog

two small birds in a tree

The Tagalog word for ‘sex’ is pagtatalik but most Filipinos just say seks.

Gusto kitang mahalin. Gusto kong mag-seks.
I want to love you. I want to have sex.

Pwede (na) ba tayong mag-seks?
Can we have sex (already)?

Bakit ayaw mong mag-seks?
Why don’t you want to have sex?

Kung ayaw mong mag-seks…
If you don’t want to have sex…

Hindi kita pipilitin.
I’m not going to force you.

Hindi kita pipiliting mag-seks.
I’m not going to force you to have sex.

Takot ka bang mag-seks?
Are you scared to have sex?

Oo, takot akong mag-seks.
Yes, I’m scared to have sex.

Ayokong magkasakit. Ayokong mabuntis.
I don’t want to get sick. I don’t want to get pregnant.

Gagamit ako ng proteksyon.
I’ll use protection.

Masakit ba? Hihintayin kita.
Does it hurt? I’ll wait for you.

Mag-seks tayo!
Let’s have sex!

Handa ka bang mag-seks?
Are you ready to have sex?

Hindi ako handang mag-seks.
I’m not ready to have sex.

Gusto kong mag-seks dito.
I want to have sex here.

Puwede ba tayong mag-seks ngayong gabi?
Can we have sex tonight?

Gusto kong mag-seks sa kusina. Sa kama.
I want to have sex in the kitchen. On the bed.

Gusto mo bang mag-seks sa sahig?
Do you want to have sex on the floor?

Gusto mo bang mag-seks nang nakatayo?
Do you want to have s3x standing up?

Kung masakit, sabihin mo lang.
If it hurts, just say so.

Dahan-dahan. Mas mabilis.
Slowly. Faster.

Konti pa. Tama na.
Just a bit more. Enough.

Ganyan. Ganito.
Like that. Like this.

Masarap ba? Ang sarap.
Does it feel good? It’s so good.

  1. I don’t know where in the world my boyfriend found the phrase Iyot pa. Bruh, I’m speechless….he’s not Filipino but he said that he wanted to impress me. Gag* I’m more surprised than Impressed!! He’s really looking for sexual words to tell me!! Nawalan ako ng air pansamantala….

Pigilan nyo ako, I’m going to marry this man right this instance…

  2. I am pretty sure “pagtatalik” or (becoming close/intimate) is just a euphimism for sex, as there are plenty of native words that are more direct, like iyot or kantot for sex and hindot for the movement during sex.
