Description
“Rice-Noodle Stir-Fry Mix”
Pancit Bihon are the most frequently used thin noodles in Philippine cuisine.
See how they’re dry and white?
To prepare, you have to add something to make them brown and delicious! Normally it would take a great cook or kitchen hand to get the sauce blend just right. For the mere mortals, there are now pre-made mixes on the market. And the most famous one with the Filipino name is Mama Sita’s!
Mama Sita’s Pancit Bihon Mix is available in two package sizes:
1.4 oz (40 g) Flat Pouch
2.2 lbs (1 Kg) Foil Bag
Be sure to check the listing for what you’re getting.
Also the shown packaging may not be the same as on the actual product you receive.
A little bit of a background on the brand…
Teresita “Mama Sita” Reyes was born in 1917 to a family of long known for good cooking. In 1980, the company named after her launched a line of mixes and sauces to help in making such Filipino dishes as kare-kare, palabok, and sinigang.
Mama Sita is such an institution that in 2013, the Philippine Post issued a commemorative stamp in her honor. According to Dr. Maria Serena Diokno, National Historical Commission chairperson, “Philippine food history is not complete without taking into account the role of Teresita Reyes.”
