Description
The native Tagalog name Mutyâ can mean charm, pearl or jewel.
You can hear it in the phrase minumutyâ kong Pilipinas, which means “my beloved Philippines.”
Many beauty contests in the Philippines have their event called “Mutya ng…” named after the area. For example, “Mutya ng Dabaw” means “Muse of Davao,” a city in Mindanao.
Mutya ng Pilipinas is an annual national contest.

The doll is dressed in an organza terno with the classic big butterfly sleeves. The print on the organza terno references textiles of the different tribes in the Philippines, as well as the sun icon from the flag. The embroidery on the hem is inspired by the Philippines national flower, the sampaguita.
Mutya Barbie has a limited release of only 4,400 dolls.
