PET

This English word has multiple meanings.

1. A pampered and usually spoiled child.

2. A person who is treated with unusual kindness or consideration darling.

3. Domesticated animal kept for pleasure rather than utility.

As an acronym, PET can stand for positron emission tomography or polyethylene terephthalate.

A “pet peeve” is something about which one frequently complains; a particular personal vexation. It’s something that is personally annoying. It’s a personal dislike.
