MIDYUM

This is a transliteration into Tagalog of the English word.

midyum
medium

Midyum ang says ko.
My size is medium.

The adjective medium means in between big and small.

midyum ng pagtuturo
medium of teaching

midyum ng pagtuturo
medium of instruction

The noun ‘medium’ means a method or way of expressing something.

For example: broadcasting medium, print medium

They told the story through the medium of dance.

A medium of instruction is a language used in teaching. It may or may not be the official language of the country. If the first language of students is different from the official language, it may be used as the medium of instruction for part or all of schooling.

For instance, in the Philippines, there have been in recent decades two media of instruction in formal schooling — the two national languages, which are Filipino and English.

Many Filipinos, however, have neither of those as a first language, making it hard for them to understand basic concepts in school. That is why there is a push to shift children into learning math and science in their native language first — be that Cebuano, Ilonggo, Kapampangan or any of the dozens of other languages in the archipelago.
