medikílyo

During the Spanish colonial period in the Philippines, the Spaniards referred to local folk doctors as mediquillos or herbolarios (“herbalists”).

Few Filipinos these days recognize the word medikilyos, though many still know or at least have heard of someone being an arbularyo.

medikílyo: mababàng uri ng mediko

arbuláryo: manggagamot na gumagamit ng sinaunang kaalaman sa panggagamot
