Kambal-Katinig

Ang salita ay may kambal-katinig kung ito ay dalawang magkasunod na katinig sa isang pantig.

A word has a consonant cluster when it has two consecutive consonants in a syllable.

For example, the word plato has two syllables. In the first syllable pla, you can see two consecutive consonants — p and l.

In contrast, the word taglay does not have a consonant cluster even though there are two consecutive consonants in it (g and l). Why? Because if you break up the word taglay into syllables, the first syllable is tag and the second syllable is lay. You do NOT pronounce it as ta + glay.
