Johnny Rey Gamboa left the Montana Disco club in Zona Rosa in an Uber on Saturday (February 17, 2024) at 3:30 a.m. He hasn’t been seen since.
Someone transferred a lot of cash from his bank account at 7:30 a.m. to an unknown person.

Timeline of Events
- Friday February 16th
- 10:00pm – Johhny Gamboa lands in Mexico City, takes an uber to his airbnb in Roma Sur to drop off his stuff. He messages various friends about plans to meet up.
- 11:30pm – Ultimately those plans fall through and Johhny goes to Montana Disco Bar on his own
- Saturday February 17th
- Lunch-time – A number of friends confirm Johhny was at Montana via his shared Instagram stories
- 4-7pm – Attempts are made to contact Johhny to make plans for the evening by a few confirmed friends. Those messages were not received via Whatsapp.
- Sunday February 18st
- Mid-day – More attempts are made to contact Johhny via Instagram and Whatsapp via various friends. Those messages are still not received.
- 8pm – A friend arrives at Montana Bar, his last known location at the time, to ask about details of last Friday night
- Monday February 19th
- 8am – An initial search of local hospitals in the area results in no successful identification of Johhny
- 11am – Initial contact with the tourist police to start an investigation.
- 12pm – A Locatel is started which searches all hospitals across the city
- 12:30pm – Arrive at the Police station to start the process to file a missing persons report
- 12:30 – 8pm – Missing person report is drafted, revised, reviewed but not yet approved
- 6pm – Footage from within Montana bar is retrieved confirming Johhny arrived there and when he left providing timestamps and two bar staff confirm to
be witnesses - 8pm – Initial contact is made with Johhny’s mother and a mutual friend
- 9pm – Johnny’s mother confirms a transfer request was made from Johhny’s bank around 7am Saturday the 20th.
- 10pm – 2am – Arrive at C5, CCTV footage headquarters, to speak with a specialist and review the footage. Johnny is identified leaving the bar and entering the rideshare. Ultimately the trip is not successfully tracked due to poor conditions
- 11PM – Airbnb information request approved, use it to confirm on CCTV footage that the rideshare did not complete a trip to Johhny’s airbnb. Also confirm that Johhny’s belongings were still in the AirBnB.
- Tuesday February 20th
- 3am – Debrief for a group of friends about action plan for after waking up
- 8am – First contact with US embassy. Contact details provided but no significant progress to open a missing person report.
- 12pm – Return to police station. Change the primary missing personreport filer from Archer to Adam, Johnny’s oldest friend. Report get revised for legal reasons
- 12-3pm – Missing person report goes live to city services such as hospitals, morgues and police stations
- 3pm – A different individual visits the US embassy again with updated information. Learn that the case does not qualify as a kidnapping case. Also learn the support and limitations the embassy can provide.
- 3-6pm – Uber data request submitted.
- Wednesday February 21st
- 8am – Confirmation that Uber rideshare data was responded and provided to the local police force
