HUDAS

from the Spanish pronunciation of “Judas”

hudas
traitor

yakap-Hudas
Judas embrace
(pretending to be a friend)

Hudas ka !!!
You’re a motherfcking snake!!!

Filipinos only say that phrase when they’re really, really absolutely angry. This is NEVER used as or taken as a joke.

When a person you thought was a friend betrays you in the most despicable way, then this phrase just spits out of your mouth at him.

Judas Iscariot in the Bible is considered the lowliest of the low for his betrayal of Jesus. Absolute scumbag. Cannot be forgiven by mortals. Good thing he hanged himself.

These days, the meaning of the phrase “Hudas ka!” in the Filipino language has been extended in use beyond a pure act of treason or betrayal. Any extreme form of despicable behavior merits the use of this phrase.
