There is no one-to-one equivalence between the English word “good” and any Tagalog word. In many cases, one can use the word mabuti, although depending on the context, another word may be more suitable.

The Tagalog word maganda means beautiful but in the following phrases, the translation into English is aptly “good.”

To describe a person as being good at doing something, the word mahusay or magaling may be used.
There are other countless situations where different Tagalog words are more appropriate for translating the English adjective “good.”
