“Good Afternoon” in Tagalog

The Tagalog word for ‘afternoon’ is hapon.

The Tagalog word for “good” is mabuti, but in the expression “Good afternoon” the word maganda (beautiful) is used.

Magandang hapon sa iyo.
Good afternoon to you.
(when speaking to one person)

Magandang hapon sa inyo.
Good afternoon to you.
(when speaking to more than one person)

Magandang hapon sa inyong lahat.
Good afternoon to all of you.

Magandang hapon po sa inyo.
Good afternoon to you.
(when respectfully speaking to an older person or
when respectfully speaking to more than one person;
not so common — just use Magandang hapon po.)
