DuBredo is a portmanteau of the surnames of President Rodrigo Duterte and Vice-President Leni Robredo, the newly sworn two top leaders of the Republic of the Philippines. The coined word became a hit on social media after they were elected on separate party tickets in May 2016, particularly after their official inaugurations on June 30th.
Because of the degree of animosity in Philippine politics, many have been skeptical of how the two can work together. Robredo has said, “The number one responsibility now is to help rally everyone behind the new administration.”
A less popular variation is RodNi, a play on their first names.
