The Philippine-born young woman died from multiple gunshot wounds. She was only 25 years old.
Christine Aca-ac, her boyfriend Edwin Garcia, her brother Janvi Maquindang, Janvi’s boyfriend Matthew Montebello and their three dogs were shot in Lancaster on Saturday. After the shooting, the house they were in was also set on fire.
The quadruple murder happened on Saturday, November 16, 2024. A 19-year-old suspect was arrested for the crime on Thursday. His bail has been set at eight million dollars.
One of Aca-ac’s two other siblings, a 16-year-old girl, survived unscathed by hiding in a bedroom. She called 9-1-1 and had to be rescued by firefighters.
The family of Christine Aca-ac is from Bohol in the Philippines. The Cebuano speaker was the legal guardian of her siblings stateside. Her brother Janvi graduated from high school as valedictorian.
There is speculation that drug- or medication-induced mental illness may have contributed to the perpertrator’s killing spree because what else could have motivated a person to commit such a horrific crime towards such a wholesome group.
