plural form: bitlennials
“Bitlennial” ang tawag sa mga kabataan na lumaki nang naging patok ang konsepto ng mga salaping kripto. Nagmula ang salitang ito sa “Bitcoin” na isa sa mga pangunahing uri ng “cryptocurrency.”
Bitlennial is the term for young people who are growing up with a familiarity with cryptocurrencies. The term derives from a combination of the words Bitcoin (the most prominent cryptocurrency as of 2017) and the word millennial, a word for the generation that started being born in the year 1978.
Whereas the Millennials grew up with smartphones in hand and as eager participants of the gig economy, Bitlennials are notable for using Bitcoins and other such cryptocurrencies as methods of payments.
The first use of the word “bitlennial” was by Twitter user Celestial Koala who posted a photo of two young boys selling lemonaid [sic] for 25 cents or 0.000023 BTC. Their lemonade stand’s handwritten sign also included a printed QR code for their bitcoin address. The Bitcoin price and QR code may have been photoshopped into an existing photo.
