pronounced AH-tee

The Áti are an ethnic group and language of the Negritos of Panay Island. The are also known as Agtá or Aeta.The terms ita and baluga are now considered mildly derogatory and so are to be avoided.

Ati-atihan is the name of the festival of the Ati people.


Unrelated to the above, there is the Tagalog word ate, which means “older sister.”

Ati-atíhan: pista ng Sto. Niño sa Kalibo, Aklan, at gumugunita sa pinaniniwalaang kasunduan ng mga dayuhang taga-Borneo at pangkating Agta sa Panay
