ADMINISTRATOR

The native Tagalog word for “administrator” is tagapangasiwa.

The English word can be transliterated into native Tagalog orthography as administreytor.

The Spanish-derived Filipino word is administrador.

The easiest way to be understood in the Philippines is to simply use the English, rather than the native word, even in Tagalog/Filipino sentences. This is because the native Tagalog word tagapangasiwa is tongue-twistingly long (six syllables) and can also have other English equivalents, such as “manager” — which is usually just translated as manedyer to avoid confusion.

Many foreigners have a hard time wrapping their minds around the fact that Filipinos regularly incorporate English words into their standard vocabulary, and these non-locals insist on forced translations. Real Filipinos among themselves casually use the words “administrator” and “manager” without giving it a second thought.

Sinong admin dito?
Who’s the admin here?

Sinong manedyer doon?
Who’s the manager over there?
