The Official Filipino Alphabet

between 1976 and 1987

In 1976, the Department of Education, Culture and Sports (DECS) of the Philippines issued a revised alphabet which added c, ch, f, j, ll, ñ, q, rr, v, x, and z to the ABAKADA that had been taught since the 1930s.

	a b c ch d e f g

	h i j k l ll m n

	ñ ng o p q r rr s

	t u v w x y z

With the enactment of a new Philippine constitution in the mid-1980s, which declared Filipino (with an "F") to be the Philippine national language, a new Filipino alphabet started to be taught in Philippine schools.
